County Government of Nandi through the Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing, Water, Environment and Climate Change held a meeting with a team from Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) on County Green Project Preparation Facility.
The project is keen in promoting commercially viable projects that create a positive impact on the environment. Project selection criteria is currently ongoing to consider the need for proposed projects, assess the project risks, investment readiness and alignment of the project to Sustainable Development Goals and social Economic impact.
Speaking during the official opening of the meeting, the County Executive Committee Member in charge of the department, CPA. Alfred Lagat, emphasized the need to have viable projects that will attract funding. He also affirmed the government commitment in exploring the green solutions that are sustainable and aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals and ensured that the positive impact is achieved.
The Project Manager, Jotham Wadango, asked the team to ensure that projects identified for funding should be sustainable and attractive to the partners.
Sectors prioritized for green investment are: Renewable energy, Agriculture, Water harvesting management and distribution, Waste Management and Biodiversity conservation.
The project is mainly funded by Financial Sector Deepening Kenya (FSD-K), implemented by Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC), and piloted in 10 counties.
Kapsabet Municipal Manager Alfayo Lel, Director of Environment and Climate Change James Meli, County Forest Conservator Dennis Kerengo, and Technical staff from the Departments of Health, Water, Agriculture, Environment, and Administration were present during the meeting.
